How to remove your car radio and locate the serial number

What you’ll need
DIN tool or
Radio removal key

Removing your car stereo is an easy job and doesn’t require an expensive trip to the dealers as many people think. To determine which tool you require to remove your stereo please refer to the manufacturers manual.

Step 1
Turn off your ignition and remove the key. Disconnect the negative terminal wire from your vehicles battery as a safety precaution.

Step 2
Remove the trim from around the stereo and locate 2 or 4 holes in the corners

Step 3
Insert your DIN tool into the holes and push them outwards, the stereo should then be released with a click and allow you to slide it out. Now you should be-able to locate the serial number at the side of the radio.

Step 4
If your car stereo needs to be completely removed then simply remove the plastic wiring harness at the back of the stereo and the aerial antenna.

Step 1

Step 2
Remove the trim from around the stereo and locate 2 or 4 slats in the corners of the radio.

Step 3

Insert a set of removal keys into each slat, you should hear a click, the keys are now locked in place and your radio is ready to be removed.

Step 4
You should now be-able to obtain the serial number from the side of the radio, to completely remove the radio, remove the plastic wiring harness at the back of the stereo and the aerial antenna.
